Sausage and Cheese Strata
For an easy-to-prepare dish, try this hearty casserole. It can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving.

1 cup Mushrooms (sautéed)
1 ½ cup Cheddar Cheese (grated)
2-cup Browned Sausage
7 slightly beaten eggs
2 ½ cup Milk
1/2 tsp Salt
¼ tsp. Dry Mustard
¼ tsp Pepper

Ingredients:
10 slices White Bread (trimmed)1 cup Mushrooms (sautéed)
1 ½ cup Cheddar Cheese (grated)
2-cup Browned Sausage
7 slightly beaten eggs
2 ½ cup Milk
1/2 tsp Salt
¼ tsp. Dry Mustard
¼ tsp Pepper
Directions:
- Butter the bread slices and put slices of bread in baking dish.
- Add layer of sausage followed by mushrooms and end with the cheese layer.
- Mix together eggs, milk, onions, mustard, salt and black pepper with a wire whip in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture over the layers in the baking dish.
- Refrigerate for 5-6 hours.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
- Serve hot.
- The sausage could be substituted with ham, turkey, seafood etc.
