Reduce Fat and Cholesterol
Directions:
- Roast, poach, steam, boil, bake, grill, broil or microwave vegetables rather than frying.
- Use vegetable cooking sprays instead of greasing pans.
- Try using flavored vinegars or lemon juice on salads rather than salad dressings.
- In a dip or any filling try to use yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
- Try substituting egg whites in recipes rather than having whole egg. Egg and liver (organ meat) is the highest source of cholesterol.
- Consume more of fish rather than meat as the fats in fish are low in saturated fatty acids and contain a certain polyunsaturated fatty acid that decrease the risk for heart disease.
