Flour Tortillas
Ingredients:
3 cups White Flour 1 tsp of Salt
2 tsp Baking Powder
½ cup Lard
1 cup of hot water
Directions:
- Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.
- Mix in the lard by hand.
- Add warm water slowly until the dough is soft and non sticky.
- Knead the dough until smooth.
- Cover with a damp towel and then let rest 15 minutes.
- Make equal size balls.
- Flatten and roll each ball into a flat round disk with the help of tortilla rolling pin.
- Dust each ball with a little flour just before you roll them out.
- Cook on a very hot cast iron skillet. It should have lots of nice brown speckles when it is done.
- Keep the cooked tortillas warm by covering with a damp towel.
